The film, tentatively titled "Sexual Healing," is set in the 1980s, around the time when Gaye was caught up in a dark world of drugs and alcohol.
Speaking to TMZ, Marvin Gaye III says "The producers and directors of this film are very wrong and shameful ... [They're] trying to do a film about a low period in his life. They don't even know the whole story."
Apparently, Gaye III and Kravitz grew up together and still remain friends to this day. The late singer's sing intends to "talk to [Kravitz] about why he would do this."
Gaye and other family members are meeting with lawyers to try and stop the movie's progress.
"I would hope [Lenny] doesn't have any idea that we are against this film being done," Gaye III told the gossip site. We'll have to wait and see what Kravtiz says about all this.

I want to know why the film with James Gandolfini and Jesse Martin (playing Marvin) has never been seen. That story was set in Belgium and centered on Marvin's healing and seems to be what they are looking to re-do. Why? Let us see the one that has already been done.

If the family of Mr. Gaye does not want this to come out, seems to me they should be able to stop it from doing so. We all have skeletons and they should remain in the closet.

December 04 2012 at 10:10 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy should his son be so upset about this? I'm 56 and grew up with Mr. Gaye's music and watching a movie about him set in the 60's, 70's or 80's will change my love for this man's voice, his gift. He was human with flaws just like all of us. He made his own choices in life, and if there is anything his son should be is proud of his father. He sang like an angel, he was loved by his fans. His grandfather was the one with the problems.....

December 04 2012 at 9:50 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyMarvin Gaye has always been one of my all time favorites. I have his master recording of "Sexual Healing." I personally would hate to see any negative movie about him. He was a genius whose music is still as popular today as it was back in the day. I hope his son gets to stop the attempt to assassinate his character for MONEY.

Lenny Karaokeizt=One to forget
"the late singer's sing"?? Don't you mean "the late singer's son?" OMG why don't you all proofread before you publish something!
As another user mentioned, I like Lenny but Jesse Martin would have been a better fit. Perhaps he will surprise us.
I have been trying to get a job as a proof reader for them and never get a reply :( But seriously they Dooooo.
December 05 2012 at 12:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI hope that they portrayal of this time period in Mr. Gaye's life will be more a "teaching moment" and not viewed as degrading moment. We all have "downturns" just before the "break through" and I hope the film will have an ending that will resonate his overcoming that dark time in Mr. Gaye's life. He was indeed a treasure and jewel to the music world. But also son, husband, father, and sibling to others. Let the movie show this!!
December 04 2012 at 7:37 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDon't make the movie. It is going to flop. Most people of Marvin Gaye's generation are retired or dead. And, young people say, "Marvin who?"
