The paths of electronic producer Jason Tan and vocalist Vanessa Fernandez crossed for years before they joined musical forces. Both members of the band pursued their respective crafts solo, and their collective project brings out the best in their abilities.
"At the heart of our collaboration is truth and respect for each others talent and experience," the band tells Spinner RPM. "Without the pressure of being watched or judged, and the security of knowing we accepted each other completely, we found liberation."
Their new track, "Trois," demonstrates how the two work together to layer beats, keys and Fernandez's soulful voice.
"Trois was one of the earliest tracks we recorded at a time when we decided to ignore the rules about what we could or should do," they add. "It's kind of our own little triumph over the gaze in a Foucauldian sense." Check it out below!
