E dives into the track with while a chugging guitar accompanies his laid-back lyrics. Kitschy drums give way to a chorus full of Ennio Morricone lead lines, and there's even a backdrop of strings to tie the whole track up in a neat bow.
"All any of us can do when our lives aren't working out is look at our own role in what's not working," E tells Spinner of the song's meaning. "You can't do anything about any of the other parties involved. But you can do something to change yourself in the name of getting to a better life. That's what this song is about. If it's not working out, make a new world by making yourself better. In my case, I needed to rock while I did this ..."
"When the world stops making sense/I'll make a new alphabet," he sings through lovely layers of distortion. Everett's newest work is a cool addition to his lengthy canon. 2009's Hombre Lobo, an album about becoming a werewolf, seems like a prequel to this now-civilized (and less hirsute) new man.
