"We hope to have a new NYC date very soon and ticket holders are encouraged to hold on to their tickets for this future date," the band tweeted this morning. "Refunds will be available at point of purchase. All tickets from the Toronto show will be honored for a future date, which will be announced in the coming weeks."
The cancellations aren't the first for The Killers on this tour. In mid-November Flowers and the band had to curtail a gig in Manchester as Flowers was fighting a sore throat.
"I'm sorry. I've never had to do this before but we've gotta stop. I can't sing," Flowers said onstage at Manchester Arena. "I don't know what else to tell you. I'm sorry. It's frustrating for me, I'm sorry. I promise that we will come back."
However, there is some silver lining for Tegan and Sara fans in Toronto. The group, supporting The Killers on this current trek, are scheduling a last-minute headlining show at Toronto's Phoenix Concert Theatre tomorrow evening (Dec. 15).
"We're so excited to return to the venue where we shot our live concert for It's Not Fun, Don't Do It!" the group said in a lengthy post yesterday. Tickets for the all-ages show go on sale today at noon.
As well, Tegan and Sara will perform a second night at The Beacon Theatre in New York City on Jan. 29. However the group announced they will most likely "NOT" be able to join The Killers for any of the three rescheduled dates.
"Again, we're hoping for a speedy recovery for our friends The Killers and in the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in Toronto on December 15th and Montreal on December 16th, which will go ahead as scheduled," the band wrote.
Tegan and Sara will release their new studio album Heartthrob early next year, which will be supported by a North American trek kicking off in Richmond, Virginia on Jan. 25.
