Returning for the sixth time, BPM Festival 2013, runs from Jan. 4-13, and features over 250 artists, including Cajmere, Seth Troxler, Ben Klock, Josh Wink, Danny Tenaglia, Masters At Work, Richie Hawtin, Dixon & Henrik Schrwarz, Loco Dice, Art Department, Carl Cox and many more.
To get a sense of the sprawling event, Spinner RPM spoke with several of the festival's biggest names, leaving us impressed, and decidedly jealous.
"I have heard rumblings from BPM for a couple years now, and everyone I spoke to that went previous years came back with great tales to tell," explains revered disco hero DJ Harvey "DJin' paradise for a bunch of musically inclined partygoers is something you just don't turn down. I have some new Locussolus [his latest recording alias] music I want to road test too, as well as to go feel the ancient party vibrations down there."
The 10-day-and-night electronic music festival has been going on for several years, taking place in various venues in Playa Del Carmen, along the Mayan Rviera, and this year's newcomers are understandably excited both to check things out for themselves.
"Of course i'm exited to play at BPM!" legendary German DJ Sven Väth tells us. "I've heard a lot from my DJ colleagues and friends about the good vibes at this festival -- the night and day parties, the lovely crowd, the relaxed atmosphere. Usually i do my annual holiday in Asia that period, but i do an exception this year and will spend a few days at BPM!"
Returning techno titan Richie Hawtin has a sense of nostalgia about the event. "[BPM] is the perfect place to disappear to after an intense New Years Eve and regroup with like minded friends, recuperate and then have a bit of a party all together, reminiscing about the previous year and dreaming about the one to come!"

"It's Hot. The Beaches are amazing. The parties are rocking. The crowd is clued up and into great underground music."
