If you're Mudhoney you have to sit and watch Pearl Jam and Soundgarden sell out arenas on the back of the sound you created. If you're Lady Gaga you have to bite your tongue as Ke$ha and Nicki Minaj find elaborate new ways to copy your wigs.
Sometimes, though, being the trailblazer is actually a good thing. Elton John, Bill Haley and Swedish House Mafia were all responsible for "firsts" this week in music history.
