In Her Words: "I'd spent several days in a tiny East Texas town after being on the road for two months, and was so completely drunk in love I could hardly see straight. The guy I was seeing was a farmer -- and things just moved slower, with a different kind of grace and chivalry that you only find in the South. We drank whiskey, cooked dinner in a cast iron skillet and sat by the fire every night. I sat down with my vihuela (a traditional Mexican Mariachi instrument), and decided to write the first thing that came to mind. What resulted was this over-the-top whimsical love song. There's a lyric in the opening chorus about a living room tree. It makes no sense. I tried changing it a million times but nothing stuck. It makes me smile every time."
