Lloyd Charmers Dies: Jamaican Reggae Singer Suffers Heart Attack

According to the Jamaica Observer, Charmers was taken to Homerton Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Charmers was a singer and keyboard player born in Trench Town, Jamaica. He reportedly launched his career in 1962 when he performed as The Charmers with Roy Willis and joined Slim Smith and Martin Jimmy Riley in The Uniques.
He released two solo albums in 1970 (Reggae Charm and Reggae is Tight) before launching his own record label, Splash, and becoming a producer.
He was 74.
