The Weeknd Has a New Album Done, Tweets Out Photo to Prove it

With his Trilogy release still on shelves, The Weeknd's figurehead Abel Tesfaye seems to be on the cusp of putting out a new studio album.

Last night The Weeknd tweeted "2013" with an accompanying photo. The picture shows an Apple computer screen with two folders, one named "2013 art work" with the other named "2013 untitled album." Since posting the tweet has been retweeted over 9,000 times.

Although no song titles, album title or even release date has been mentioned, The Weeknd dropped hints a new album was in the offing in November. "in the studio," a Nov. 19 tweet read. "beginning chapter two. xo."

In late November The Weeknd also tweeted the following: "you about to lose me for a bit. i'm bout to get back on my shit."

The Weeknd wrapped up a U.S. tour just before Christmas and will mount a brief British trek in March which hits Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham before concluding in London on March 24. In 2011 The Weeknd released three mixtapes -- House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence -- which comprised the 2012 Trilogy release.
