The wait is (almost) over.
My Bloody Valentine announced tonight (Feb. 2) that they're releasing their first album since 1991's Loveless and launching their new website tonight.
Around 4:30 PM on their Facebook page, the band wrote, "We are preparing to go live with the new album/website this evening. We will make an announcement as soon as its up" while changing their cover and profile photos with a new, blue design. In a matter of minutes, the status was "liked" and shared by thousands of eagerly-awaiting fans.
Reports of new music came earlier this week after Kevin Shields told a London audience on Jan. 27 that a new EP would be out in a few days.
Speaking to NME at the beginning of November, Shields said of their third album, "I think with this record, people who like us will immediately connect with something. Based on the very, very few people who've heard stuff -- some engineers, the band, and that's about it -- some people think it's stranger than Loveless. I don't. I feel like it really frees us up, and in the bigger picture it's 100 percent necessary."
My Bloody Valentine are scheduled to play Tokyo Rocks festival in May and tour The UK in March.
