The power-pop quartet set up shop at a Long Beach, California house to perform a stripped-down set of the album's songs (cleverly, they're releasing the new versions for free via Facebook on March 8 as Did It Kill You?). Today, Spinner is proud to premiere their fun-loving rendition of "When We First Met."
"When Old Friends Records reissued Would It Kill You? we obviously threw a party!" frontman Forrest Kline tells Spinner. "The record has meant a lot to me since we put it out and I'd always wanted to do a Beach Boys-style recording party so we set up some mics, marked down inputs, ran cables all through the house and invited over a bunch of friends, wooing them with booze drinks. My wife's event biz, Hello Gem, made us all these incredible flower decorations and turned the area behind our fireplace into a big living flower wall, the color palette for which she described as, ''90's/Clueless.' This is the only track we really rearranged with such a big hatchet, but I think it suits another side of it."
Check out the video below, pick up the reissue of Would It Kill You? from Old Friends Records, and keep an eye out for Hellogoodbye's new album, which is slated for this summer.
