Prince Smashed Roots Guitarist's Vintage Epiphone on 'Fallon' -- VIDEO

After performing "Bambi" on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon," the artist forever known as Prince -- who had borrowed Kirk's 1961 Epiphone Crestwood for the performance -- topped off his rockin' appearance by tossing the guitar up into the air and letting it drop. Normally, this would be considered pretty standard bad-ass rock legend behavior, but damaging a instrument guitar is just plain uncool. And when the word "uncool" becomes even remotely applicable to Prince, something ain't right.
After posting a picture of the smashed guitar -- which he planned to u Douglas tweeted, "Maybe it's because I'm a dad but I think framing the guitar is a little like rewarding bad behavior." According to Death and Taxes, Prince also refused to autograph Douglas' wrecked axe, rubbing salt in the musician's fresh wound.
It's not all bad, though. Tweeting at Living Colour's Vernon Reid, who was angry about the incident, Kirk wrote, "For the record, Prince did apologize. His people reached out and made arrangements to take care of damages. Guitar's in the shop."

Lisa K, it sounds the same as it did before and this incident actually makes it a lot more valuable. That's why Kirk wanted Prince to autograph the guitar. I doubt he would have been crying about the damage if Prince would have signed it. Makes no sense to ask the guy to sign it if you're really upset.

You just do not do that to a vintage instrument (mostly one that is not yours). Just plain rude and no rescept. I really thought Prince was better than that. And yes though it is being repaired it will never be the same. And borrowed even worse!!!!!!!!!! Arrogance and self absorption, this is so wrong on sooooooo many levels! Does this show what a little man he really is. Sorry but you deserve it prince, once know as, forever know as or what the FU@$ ever as.
