WMC, Miami Music Week & Ultra Music Festival 2013: Check Out This Week's Best Dance Events

For the past 28 years, Miami's Winter Music Conference has been America's largest electronic music event. The event, which has coincided (generally) with the mammoth Ultra Music Festival since 1999, has consistently brought the world's biggest DJs to Miami, decades before the term "EDM" was dreamed into existence.

Adding to the festivities, Miami Music Week launched three years ago (apparently a week in Miami lasts from March 15-24), flooding the city with even more bros, babes, fans, DJs and promoters.

This year, the Red Bull Music Academy jumps into the fray with their array of RBMA Guest House events, Ultra celebrates its 15th anniversary, and the sheer amount of pool parties, cruises and afterhours is terrifying.

We put together a list of our top events for the coming week and weekend, and we're planning to try to hit each one (if we can talk our way in). Pray for our well being.

Tonight, the big event we're hoping to check out is the Detroit Premiere Artist Showcase at Treehouse Miami, featuring Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Paul Woolford, Radio Slave, Stacey Pullen, Nina Kraviz, Mark Fanciulli, Audiofly and more. The event takes place at 323 23rd Street, from 10PM-5AM.


There's also the Modern Love Affair Miami with Pete Tong, Art Department, Damian Lazarus and Luca C at W Hotel, which is a strictly limited capacity event, with only 200 tickets sold. At the W Hotel, 2201 Collins, 11PM-4:30AM.

Lastly, Gato Y Disco: Azari & III (live), Mano Le Tough, Pillowtalk (live), Tensnake (live), Jozif at Bardot, 24 North Miami Ave, 10PM-5AM.


On Thursday (March 21), the UK's infamous Boiler Room invades Miami for the first time, featuring a great lineup which includes Mano Le Tough, Bicep, John Talabot, Carl Craig and Jamie xx. The event is private, and looks insane. It's at Red Bull Music Academy Guest House at the Dream Hotel South Beach, from 1-8PM, and streams live at boilerroom.tv.

Also during the day on Thursday, we have the infamous Dirtybird Players BBQ, starring Justin Jay, Catz n' Dogz, Eats Everything, Justin Martin, Claude Von Stroke, De La Soul (!) and more. Villa 221 221 NE 17th St from 11AM - 11PM.



Lastly, during the day, the We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat cruise with Danny Tenaglia, John Digweed and Josh Wink on the Lady Windridge yacht, Miami Beach 4.30PM-9PM. Tickets are pretty pricey, but maybe you're a baller. We dont know.

The Thursday night event we're most excited about is the Klockworks Showcase with Ben Klock and DVS1 at The Station, featuring an extended exclusive set by Ben Klock, plus DVS1 is not to be missed. The Station 62 NE 14th St, runs from 10PM-7AM. Damn.

If you're still trying to keep the party going, and you're not at Klockworks, check out DFA Records' breakfast showcase at RBMA Guest House at the Dream Hotel, starring Pat Mahoney, Benoit & Sergio, The Juan Maclean, from 330-7AM.



On Friday (March22), Skrillex's OWSLA label takes over the RBMA Guest House at the Dream Hotel from 1-8PM.

Then we're heading over to Visionquest presents Super Pleasures: A Label Party and BBQ at Villa 221, featuring Tiga vs Seth Troxler, Lee Curtiss, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and more at Villa 221 221 NE 17th St from 12-11PM.

CLR Miami 2013: All Day/All Night at The National Hotel has Chris Liebing, Radio Slave, Marcel Dettmann and Drumcell at The National Hotel, 1677 Collins Ave 12PM-10PM.

Later that night, CLR Miami continues things with two huge events: Chris Liebing, Carl Craig, Radio Slave, Marcell Dettmann at Space (main room) 34 NE 11th St 10 pm-12AM the next day. Yeah.

And on then on the terrace at Space, Eric Prydz, Pete Tong, Joris Voorn back to back with Nic Fanciulli (Afterhours) at Space (terrace) 34 NE 11th St 11PM-The next afternoon.

Hard Miami also takes place on Friday, starring Felix Da Housecat, Baauer, Skreamizm, Clockwork, Surkin, Just Blaze, Oliver, Para One, Jesse Rose, Light Year, Samo Soundboy and more. Raleigh Hotel, 1775 Collins Ave 12PM-10PM.

Life and Death Manifests WMC at The Electric Pickle pop up Factory, stars Tale Of Us, Clockwork, Mano Le Tough, No Regular Play, Thugfucker, DJ Tennis, Midland and more. Soho Studios Pavilion 2151 NW 1st CT, doesn't appear to have times. Just show up.

Fixed Miami has a pretty great lineup as well, with Tensnake, Bicep, Flight Facilities, Maxxi Soundsystem, Poolside, Classixx Light Year, and of course, JDH & Dave P. At The Vagabond, 30 NE 14th St 10PM-5AM. Nice.

Lastly, Young Turks AT WMC with Jamie xx, John Talabot, Oneman, Pional at Bardot, 34 N Miami Ave from 10PM-6AM.

Then, if you're up for it, and you can talk your way in, breakfast at the RBMA Guest House with LA's Body High label, from 3AM-7AM.

With so many pool parties and BBQs taking place around the beach, we're probably not going to make it to Ultra, but if that's your thing, the lineup features Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, Paul Woolford, Radio Slave and others, alongside Afrojack, Kaskade, Bloody Beetroots, Boys Noize, Luciano, Carl Cox, Tiesto, Avicii, Eric Prydz and more.
