Hatcham Social, 'Sidewalk' -- Video Premiere

Hatcham SocialIn Hatcham Social's new video, 'Sidewalk,' the British band sticks to a classic performance clip, while frontman Toby Kidd scribbles messages on a dry erase board about getting away from it all. "I wanted it to represent the thought process of someone planning an escape," Kidd tells Spinner.

The video -- shot with one camera in a single take, according to Kidd -- was filmed for a single from the band's debut full-length album, 'You Dig the Tunnel, I'll Hide the Soil,' produced by the Charlatans' Tim Burgess. Watch the exclusive premiere of 'Sidewalk' after the jump.

What's That Song in the Palm Pixi Ad?

'Sleepyhead' by Passion Pit

Feeling a little dizzy -- or drunk -- after catching the new commercial for the Palm Pixi this week? It might be because within a whirlwind 30-second segment, photos are taken, messages are sent, videos are shown and phone chatting is done -- all in the palms of many quick-moving hands. The fast-paced clip is vibrant, full of energy and strangely captivating, with the perfect euphoric soundtrack to boot.

The Palm Pixi ad is backed by Passion Pit's 'Sleepyhead,' an electro-pop tune that Spinner's been hooked on since the band was booked to perform on the Interface last year. Full of fun beats and frontman Michael Angelakos' falsetto vocals, the song was first found on the group's 'Chunk of Change' EP, and later featured on the debut full-length album, 'Manners.' Now that you've heard a snippet of 'Sleepyhead' in the commercial, check out Passion Pit's live performance of the song after the jump.

Eels, 'Little Bird' -- Video Premiere

EelsWhen Spinner recently debuted the latest Eels track, 'Little Bird,' the band's Mark Oliver Everett -- aka E -- had little to say about the new album, 'End Times.' E wrote that the content of it was too personal to discuss, and advised to "let the music do the talking this time." Since he's supposedly taken a vow of silence, we don't expect to hear much more on the subject.

With the new video for 'Little Bird' comes similar feelings of emotion and simplicity. E, sitting alone on a porch with an amp by his side, strums his guitar and quietly plays the song in the clip. Watch the video premiere after the jump, and pick up a copy of 'End Times' on Jan. 19, 2010.

Clash of the Cover Songs: Dirty Projectors vs. Solange

The Rules for Battle: Each week, we pit versions of the same song by two different artists in a head-to-head death match for musical supremacy. (Sometimes it will be the original recording vs. a cover version; other times it will be two different covers.) Then it's up to you to decide: Listen to and vote on which version you think should emerge victorious and which should be sent packing. May the best band win!

Dirty Projectors and Solange

The Song: 'Stillness Is the Move' (original version by Dirty Projectors)

The Contestants: Dirty Projectors vs. Solange

In This Corner -- Dirty Projectors: With the first single from their most recent full-length release, this year's 'Bitte Orca,' the Brooklyn art-rockers came forth with an accessible R&B-inspired gem. The track is both charming and sultry, namely due to a jerky drumbeat, complex layers and the entrancing high notes that vocalist Amber Coffman hits. And with its catchy yet sentimental chorus, it's a tune that is sure to stay with you for a while.

What's That Song During Izzie and Alex's Talk on 'Grey's Anatomy'?

'End of All Time,' by Stars of Track and Field

If you've been following 'Grey's Anatomy' at all this season, you've probably noticed some big changes. There's been the merging of two hospitals -- and with it an influx of new characters who are carefully being written into more prominent roles as the plot line advances. Seattle Grace Hospital's morale has been low, title character Meredith Gray is hardly ever her "dark and twisty" self anymore, and Izzie Stevens literally left town out of nowhere. Last night's episode followed suit at first, as another new doctor, Teddy Altman, was introduced; but we also finally saw the return of Izzie.

In came the rock ballad 'End of All Time,' by Stars of Track and Field. For a three-minute stretch, the song backed a montage that consisted of a difficult surgery and a painful reunion between Izzie and her husband, Alex Karev. As Izzie and Alex made hurtful accusations against each other, the three-piece band's tune -- off the new album 'A Time for Lions' -- provided a fitting soundtrack. The song -- practically tailor-made for an emotional 'Grey's' moment -- is soaring with lyrics that touch upon the idea of maybe, in time, making it through all those bumps in the road.
