Rosanne Cash Outraged Over Music Used as Torture

Rosanne Cash is angry, and she wants the world to know it. The singer-songwriter recently joined a group of artists expressing outrage that their music has allegedly been used as a form of either punishment or coercion on prisoners in Guantanamo Bay since 2002, by blaring it for hours -- even days -- at a time.

"I think every musician should be involved," Rosanne tells the Washington Post. "It seems so obvious. Music should never be used as torture." Saying she felt "absolute disgust" when she initially found out, she finds the concept hard to fathom. "It's beyond the pale. It's hard to even think about."

Kris Kristofferson and country superstar Toby Keith are both speaking out about Ethan Hawke recent article in Rolling Stone magazine, detailing an alleged encounter between the two country stars at Willie Nelson's 2003 birthday bash. The actor claims that he witnessed a heated exchange, during which an unnamed artist (whom he hints was Keith) warned Kristofferson not to perform any "lefty" music. Hawke claims the country legend bit back, telling off the mystery artist and putting him in his place.

So did that really happen? Both Keith and Kristofferson say no.

Did Toby Keith once get a tongue lashing from Kris Kristofferson? Maybe, if you believe actor/director Ethan Hawke.

Hawke, a huge Kristofferson fan himself, wrote an article in the recent issue of Rolling Stone magazine about a confrontation he witnessed between the country icon and another country musician, whom he declined to name, at Willie Nelson's 2003 birthday concert at Madison Square Garden.

"Up from the basement came one of country music's brightest stars (who shall remain nameless)," Hawke recalls, adding that the unnamed star went on to warn Kristofferson to not sing "any of that lefty (stuff) out there tonight."
