On Tuesday, Nov. 8, around 80 lucky guests gathered at La Grenouille, a cozy French restaurant on New York's Upper East Side, to partake in an evening hosted by Vanity Fair, jewelry designer Solange Azagury-Partridge and Martha Wainwright. The evening's entertainment included the singer-songwriter performing three songs from 'Sans Fusils, Ni Souliers, à Paris: Martha Wainwright's Piaf Record' along with selections from her own repertoire.

The intimate affair consisted mainly of Wainwright's friends and family, including her brother Rufus, who formed a cheering section at the top of the stairs to support her every word.

Decked out in jewelry from Azagury-Partridge, 'Wizard of Oz'-style striped tights and a French twist, Wainwright and pianist Thomas Bartlett took the stage, which in this case was a small balcony overlooking the glow of La Grenouille's main floor.

Neon Indian and Kreayshawn have joined forces for a two-week college tour sponsored by Dell and Intel dubbed the Noisey College Tour (insert record scratch here).

It's an obvious pairing, like wine and cheese, with one band releasing an LP titled 'Psychic Chasm' and the other opting to title its single 'Gucci Gucci'. This is a match made in irony heaven.

Adele, America's British sweetheart, was forced to cancel her U.S. tour for the second time this year due to illness and her continually strained pipes.

Her sold-out 10-date tour was scheduled to begin Oct. 7 in Atlantic City and continue throughout the month, ending in Grand Prairie, Texas. After completing a successful U.K. tour, doctors diagnosed the 23-year-old with a vocal cord hemorrhage -- the same ailment that led to her previous cancellation in April.

"Singing is literally my life. It's my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job," she said in a statement released by Columbia records. "I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully or I risk damaging my voice forever."

Just like any other breakup, the mixtapes get returned and one can't help but reminisce about how it all began. Well, that's kind of what happened with R.E.M.

Only two weeks after the news of R.E.M.'s demise broke, a dedicated fan brought to light a rare 1981 "cassette set" demo tape of the band that was reportedly delivered to labels and clubs 30 years ago.

Legendary four-time Grammy award-winner Roberta Flack is back with a Beatles tribute album after an eight-year hiatus.

The songstress, who is most noted for tracks like 'Killing Me Softly' -- which inspired rap groups like the Fugees to cover it -- debuted her first cover from the collection, the 1965 hit 'We Can Work It Out,' this week (Sept. 27) on iTunes. The full album release is expected in February 2012.

"Love, inspiration, friendship and my own life's lessons come together when I sing the songs they created. I am honored to be a part of the fabulous legacy of the Beatles, " the R&B icon said in a statement.

Flack catapulted to stardom in 1969 with her debut single, Ewan MacColl's 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,' the same year the Beatles released 'Abbey Road.'

The opera world lost one of its baritone greats with the passing of Cornell MacNeil on July 15 in Charlottesville, Va., the New York Times reports. He was 88. MacNeil was a Verdi baritone (a baritone with the ability to consistently sing in the high end of the range), famous for his 26 roles and more than 600 appearances at the Metropolitan Opera.

Born on Sept. 24, 1922 in Minneapolis, MacNeil was raised by his mother, a singer who had studied under the famed contralto Ernestine Schumann-Heink, and his father, a dentist.
