L.A. indie outfit Torches bring us this video for their track "When You Gonna" off their upcoming self-released EP If The People Stare, due out on May 6th via iTunes, Bandcamp and Soundcloud.

Torches' new EP comes as the first followup to their debut LP, 2012's Heads Full of Rust. Their reverberant, guitar-driven brand of melodic indie-rock channels stylistic cousins the Shins and Wild Nothing, bringing to the table their own harmonic flourishes and storytelling lyrics.

The video shows a group of white-shirted girls in what could be anything from a hazing ritual to a bizarre seance, with singer Azad Cheikosman and drummer Eric Fabbro passing through but opting not to get involved.

"For this video we wanted to steer away from a performance piece," Cheikosman tells Spinner. "I thought it would look visually striking to use an all-girl cast and depict them as a cult. The video takes a lot of direct meanings from the song such as love, hate, lust, jealousy, trust, etc."

Check out the video for "When You Gonna" below and consider your interpretation.

The Dandy Warhols have been around for nearly two decades now, making long-lasting rad jams like "Bohemian Like You" and "We Used to Be Friends." Their latest effort and eighth full-length studio album, This Machine, was recorded in 2011 at the band's self-described "rock clubhouse/ entertainment megaplex/studio," which they call the Odditorium.

In an amusing instance of conceptual contrast, the often tongue-in-cheek band opted, in this video for their track "Rest Your Head," to blow up their own heads repeatedly. We are presented with the dystopian imagery of a robotic man manufacturing other identical robotic men, until an error results in the band members themselves getting put together. Are we all cogs in the machine and the Dandy Warhols are defects looking to blow our conformist minds with music? Am I over-analyzing this enough?

Watch the Jean-Francois Rivard-directed video for "Rest Your Head" below. The Dandy Warhols will be touring North America to celebrate the 13th anniversary of their album Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia this summer.

Musician, songwriter and record producer Linda Perry just got engaged to actress Sara Gilbert (who, if you don't watch daytime talk shows, you may remember from "Roseanne" -- nostalgia alert!). Perry reportedly had very big plans for her proposal, as Gilbert shared on Monday's episode of "The Talk."

"We go to a park, we have food and we're eating it, it's really sweet and there's this guy sitting playing guitar, like a street musician ... He starts playing this song that we love," Gilbert said. "I'm like, 'Oh, that's so weird, this is so magical and amazing.' ... Suddenly the people picnicking next to us pull out string instruments from under the blanket and walk over and they start playing 'Love Song' [by the Cure]."

Gilbert then revealed that Linda Perry popped the question spelled out on five different t-shirts before pulling out an engagement ring. But only one of the biggest names behind-the-scenes in the pop and rock world could have pulled this off.

"So I think that's it and it's the most amazing proposal ever," Gilbert added, "And then ... this guy walks up and she's like, 'This is John Waite.' And he starts playing 'Missing You.'"

Good luck topping that one, you crazy lovebirds. We at Spinner offer congratulations to the happy couple.

Perry has written songs and produced records for a laundry list of big-time artists, including P!nk, Courtney Love, Gavin Rossdale, Joan Jett and the Heartbreakers, and Christina Aguilera.

Looks like former Rolling Stones guitarist Mick Taylor (pictured above, second from left) is going to be hitting the road with his old bandmates once again. Keith Richards revealed the news during last night's "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" appearance that Taylor will join in on their new 50 and Counting tour dates, which kick off in the U.S. on May 13.

Taylor, who departed from the band originally in 1974, reunited with the Stones for last year's 50th anniversary tour dates. He recently admitted he would be open to performing with them again at this summer's Glastonbury festival in the U.K., and it looks like now that's coming to fruition.

"It's great that he wanted to do some more," Keith told Jimmy Fallon during his appearance. "Ronnie and I, you understand, the Stones records, sometimes [there are] four, five, maybe six guitars on them that we carefully overlay and artistically manufacture, and then we get onstage and there's two of us and we have to decide which are the important bits! So to have Mick Taylor with us as an added third guitar, this means this is gonna be an interesting tour all around."

It will indeed. Catch a clip from Richards' "Jimmy Fallon" appearance below, in which they discuss his other passion: Growing lemon trees. Seriously.

Alexander Fairchild is more prolific than your average up-and-coming artist. The singer-songwriter from Ontario, Canada, touted as a one-man band, just released his second EP in a month, called Where Do You Go. We've got your first look at what Fairchild's recent flurry of activity with an exclusive premiere of his video "Tonight."

"I'm beyond excited to share these new songs with everyone so I can get on with my life and write more new ones," Fairchild tells Spinner. "Such is a life of slavery to art -- a massive rush to create again and again. I enjoyed these songs the day I wrote them and today I drop them, like abandoned children, upon your doorstep. Be kind to them, or pass them like a hot potato to others.

"All joking aside, it's a total privilege to create art and release it with these incredible partners who believe in me. I hope you have as much fun listening to these songs as we had in creating them."

Fairchild's Where Do You Go and Tonight debut EPs come just ahead of his upcoming debut full-length album to be called Alexander Fairchild Volume 1. You can look forward to its release this coming June.

Broken Social Scene, the Canadian indie rock collective that helped launch the solo careers of Feist, Jason Collett and Metric's Emily Haines, has been on indefinite hiatus since 2011. Now, the on-again off-again band has revealed they'll be reuniting to headline the A&C Field Trip Music Festival, celebrating 10th anniversary of the band's Canadian label Arts & Crafts -- and that isn't the extent of their plans.

"Deathcock" is the first track the band recorded together, and we're premiering this polished version for the first time courtesy of a new compilation of rarities, aptly titled Arts & Crafts: 2003-2013. It gets better: We're giving away a free MP3 download of the track, too.

"'Deathcock,' originally titled 'Mourir,' was the first recording we did together as a band with David Newfeld. Dave was making a record called Pet Songs and asked if we'd contribute to his project," the band tells Spinner. "It was Justin Peroff who initially brought us together as he felt Dave and BSS would be a great collaboration. The song was written and recorded in one day with at least 10 BSS members present and in town for the session. It was after this session we knew we had to work with Dave. The sounds that he got, the vibe he created at this studio, and his understanding of the band all pointed to YES."

While we're at it, you can also enjoy a full stream of the album here (U.S. only). The stereotype about Canadians being super nice holds true once again.

The National have released the first single off their upcoming album, Trouble Will Find Me, due out this May via 4AD. The song, called "Demons," features an unusual time signature and, of course, Matt Berninger's smooth baritone.

In other totally awesome news, Queens of the Stone Age have dropped the first track off their upcoming new album ...Like Clockwork, coming out on June 4. The band has been teasing the new album in weird ways, and recently announced a star-studded list of contributing players including Dave Grohl, Elton John and Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner.
Experimental chamber pop mainstays Cloud Cult are celebrating the release of their latest studio album, simply titled Love, with the release of this video for "1x1x1."

The big band, hailing from the Midwest, has 15 years and nine full-length studio albums to their credit -- no small feat in the rock world, especially considering their history of eschewing labels in favor of self-publishing their music.

Restorations is a band doing punk differently. Hailing from Philly, the five-piece band serves up a richer, more aspirational take on the kind of punk sound rooted in American rock, pioneered by mainstays Social Distortion and Bad Religion. Their new full-length album, entitled LP2, drops April 2 via SideOneDummy Records.

"Kind of Comfort" may be a somewhat antiquated first look at Restorations' new material, but it's a killer track nonetheless. As singer/guitarist Jon Loudon explains, "'Kind of Comfort' is an older song of ours that maybe predates the A/B 7" (2012) material from last year. This is a little more upbeat than what we normally do, but I like this song a lot. Jon Low conjured some wild tones here. The organ and lead guitar sounds are some of my favorite parts of the record. Had a lot of fun working on this track in particular."

Courrier is a band made up of friends from the University of Texas. Conceiving a sound like Coldplay with more bite to it, success found the indie pop outfit quite quickly. After the release of their 2011 full-length debut, A Violent Flame, their songs appeared on a slew of television shows including "Gossip Girl" and "Pretty Little Liars."

Their new album, Cathedrals of Color, brought U2/Pearl Jam producer Tim Palmer into the fray. The result: A collection of solid, dreamy songs with a dark side. According to lead guitarist Philip Edsel, "The City at Night," their lofty second single, takes the group away from their native Texas and into a New York state of mind.

"Every line in this song was meant to evoke the imagery of New York City," Edsel says. "We knew we had to shoot the video there to capture the intoxicating quality and the sensory overload of the city. We shot the video in one day all over the city, starting in Times Square, and randomly ended up in Brooklyn at 1AM on the set of HBO's 'Girls' as they were filming the season finale."
What is a gayageum? Thanks for asking. It's a traditional Korean string instrument, not unlike a zither. It is also a surprisingly awesome instrument with which to cover Jimi Hendrix songs. Allow Ms. Luna Lee to demonstrate.

Playing along with a backing track, Luna rocks Hendrix's riffs with an astounding amount of zen. We know that YouTube is full of fans covering their favorite songs with oft-cringeworthy results, but this is most definitely not one of those times.

Watch the video below (thanks to Ultimate Classic Rock for the tip-off) and prepare to dig into Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)" in a whole new way. Hype has been steadily building since the Yeah Yeah Yeahs announced that Mosquito, the long-awaited followup to 2009's It's Blitz!, will be released on April 16 via Interscope. Now the art rockers are debuting the video for "Sacrilege," the album's first single -- which, in a first for the paired-down three-piece, features a gospel choir backing up Karen O's inimitable vocals.

Directed by Megaforce, the video stars model-turned-actress Lily Cole running around in her underwear, getting frisky with a variety of men (and women -- meow), but the sexy scenes are flanked by a series of unfortunate events. Also featured: A masked man running down the street in his underwear, and a lot of chase scenes shot in the dark. It's got the vibe of a feature film chopped to bits and spliced together all for a four-minute track, which we dig.
Say hello to Wild Party. Hailing from San Antonio, Texas, this four-piece is poised to charm the pants off fans of buzzy power-pop with their first official release, an EP called All Nighter, coming out this May.

Wild Party got themselves a good head start without label support, opting instead to take the DIY route. They self-released a music video for their track "When I Get Older" at the onset of 2013 and put out a set of self-recorded, self-produced songs by the name of Phantom Pop -- which, to the dismay of their new fans (who already numbered in the tens of thousands), was subsequently taken down from iTunes and Spotify due to the prodding of would-be managers and prospective record deals.

Fret not, for the debut of their first official single is upon us with the launch of this clip for "Out Right." According to lead singer Lincoln Kreifels, "The song is about distinguishing your dreams from your reality and the video is a representation of that and how it can be a struggle."

Watch the video below -- you won't be disappointed. (Or maybe you will. We aren't here to tell you how to feel.)

Zion, Illinois-based alternative rock band Local H, known for their 1998 hit "All the Kids Are Right," has cancelled part of their upcoming U.S. tour after lead singer Scott Lucas was reportedly beaten and robbed in Moscow, Russia.

It was found that Lucas, who was referred to a throat specialist upon his return home to the U.S., sustained damage to his vocal cords during the attack. Starting off with the heart-sinking line, "First Morrissey, then Animal Collective, and now this ..." Lucas wrote a Facebook post detailing the incident:

"The attacker came up from behind and put me in a chokehold until I passed out. When I came to, I was in a stairwell with all of my pockets empty. No phone, no wallet, no cash, and (worst of all) no passport... It wasn't until I found someone to ask for help that I realised something else was gone -- my voice ... When I got back to the States... it soon became apparent that this time my voice wasn't going to just heal itself and I had to see someone. The folks at MusiCares (organization) hooked me up with a voice doctor who found that one of my vocal cords had been damaged. How badly damaged, we're not sure yet... but the doctor said if they had to go in and pop (!) the cord back into place, then we have a limited window for that until the damage becomes permanent."

Brooklyn indie rockers the National have announced that their sixth studio album, Trouble Will Find Me, is due out on May 21 through 4AD. The follow-up to 2010's critically acclaimed High Violet was self-produced by the band, recorded in Rhinebeck, N.Y.'s Clubhouse studio.

After the five-piece's 22 months of touring in support of High Violet, guitarist Aaron Dessner got to work on the new songs despite the rest of the band wanting to wait -- but after hearing what he'd come up with, they couldn't help themselves. The forthcoming result is described as reaching new potential while also returning to the band's stylistic roots, but to what extent is yet to be seen (we're hoping on a reprise of 2007's Boxer).

Frontman Matt Berninger says, "For the past 10 years we'd been chasing something, wanting to prove something. And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we'd finally gotten there. Now we could relax -- not in terms of our own expectations but we didn't have to prove our identity any longer."
Thom Yorke will grace us with his dance moves in a series of Atoms for Peace tour dates just added for this fall. Thom Yorke announced via his Twitter this morning that the alt supergroup, featuring Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich (among others), will come to Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more this September in support of their first full-length album, Amok.
Maybe you're as confused as we are by the stylistic discrepancies between "One Way Trigger" and "All the Time," the first two singles off the Strokes' upcoming new album Comedown Machine, out March 26 on RCA.

This is the Strokes we know and love. The new music video for "All the Time" just released today may be a token tour diary video, but those are always fun, aren't they?

"All the Time" is more familiar territory than "One Way Trigger," the first single off their new album, Comedown Machine. The video shows the band enjoying giant margaritas, obligatory stadium-rocking shots, as well as treading water with their instruments in what appears to be a shoot for another video. (At least, we hope the band wasn't actually drowning with their guitars while the cameraman watched.)

Watch the video below, and breathe a sigh of relief that Julian Casablancas isn't abusing his falsetto and synthing it up quite as much in this track.

Mumford & Sons Call Out Copycats: Acoustic Rock is Not 'a Formula to Go and Sell Records'

In the new interview for their cover feature with Rolling Stone, Mumford & Sons keyboardist Ben Lovett spoke out on the mainstream music industry's appropriation of their folk-rock sound. After hearing "American Idol" winner Phillip Phillips' track "Home," Lovett says, "I was like, 'What's that? Did we do that?'"

Speaking to Rolling Stone senior writer Brian Hiatt, Lovett continued:

"The only thing that makes me a bit sad about it is that if people think that it's a good commercial move ... I think that's just stupid. Because it's not about the setup. It's about the songs, how we're expressing our songs with this kind of accidental selection of instruments. That's not like a formula to go and sell records. ... When we started it was quite fun doing what we were doing 'cause no one else was doing it. It was like our little secret."

The Grammy-winning band understandably has a bone to pick with mainstream copycats the likes of Phillips, who perhaps haven't put in the same amount of painstaking work for their success. However, Mumford isn't the only band who has inspired the wave of copycats.
