Bob Dylan is one of America's musical fountainheads. He distilled folk, blues, rock, jazz and more into a singular style, one that would be reduced, reused and recycled throughout the years by hundreds of artists including himself. Seventh time's a charm? Music icon Greg Allman is engaged to a 24-year-old woman, who will be his seventh wife. The 64-year-old founding member of the Allman Brothers Band revealed the engagement Tuesday (May 22) on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" and insisted his fiancée is not "wife number seven."

"That's not what she's becoming. She's becoming wife number one," said the musician, who was visibly uncomfortable with the line of questioning. "I don't have a wife. Haven't had one for years."

Heart vocalist/guitarist Nancy Wilson has tied the knot for the second time. The 58-year-old married music executive Geoff Bywater at a small reception in Mill Valley, Calif. on Saturday (April 28).

Wilson was previously married to famed director Cameron Crowe (Say Anything, Almost Famous) from 1986-2010. They have two children together.

Levon Helm, the enigmatic drummer and baritone vocalist behind The Band has died at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with cancer, the Times-Herald Record reports. Helm had been hospitalized at New York's Memorial Sloane-Kettering Cancer Center.

"We lost Levon at 1:30 today surrounded by friends and family and his musicians have visited him," Larry Campbell, Helm's guitarist and band leader, told the news paper. "As sad as this was, it was very peaceful."

After last weekend's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions, speculation about Helm's health grew after former Band guitarist Robbie Robertson wished "love and prayers" to the drummer. Even though he infamously dissed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame just this past weekend, that isn't stopping Axl Rose from going on and on about it.

Just a few days before Guns N' Roses were to be inducted into the Hall of Fame on April 14, Rose released a statement letting its organizers know that he wouldn't be attending the awards, and in a move that shocked the rock world, would also not be accepting the honor in absentia.

Today (April 17), the legendary rocker took to his personal Twitter account and posted another lengthy letter attempting to clarify the entire Rock and Roll Hall of Fame debacle.

On April 8, former Hole guitarist Eric Erlandson will release Letters to Kurt, which, as its title suggests, is a collection of letters he wrote to his late friend Kurt Cobain. Touching on the rocker's career, sex, fame and suicide, the book also features an introduction in which Erlandson discusses his friendship with Cobain and Courtney Love, as well as a young kid who tragically followed in Cobain's footsteps. Spinner is joining forces with the Red Bull Music Academy and Young Lions Music Club for the Artist Select Series at Toronto live music hotspot The Garrison. As the title portends, each of the three shows during CMW's Canadian Music Fest will be curated and hosted by a different artist. Canadian rapper Shad and Junior Boys all-star Jeremy Greenspan both took a turn as Master of Ceremonies, and now it's Broken Social Scene mainstay Brendan Canning's turn.

We've been lightheartedly calling Future Unlimited "gilt-wave", not because we get off on being genre taxonomists, but because the Nashville duo is too cunning for any other name. Their day-glo synths and pop vocal production are straight '80s, but they touch on something much more mysterious, seamy, and forlorn -- like looking at all the lavishness of the Reagan-era through a thick, 21st century lens. Sultry moods, arena hooks and a shoe-in for a spot on the 'Drive 2' soundtrack.

Polica are going to blow SXSW away. The Minneapolis quartet's sexy, psyched-out R&B has already got blogs buzzing (the fact that Bon Iver's Justin Vernon proclaimed them the best band he's ever heard gave them instant street cred), and with nine shows booked, they'll have a chance to seduce almost everyone in Austin. I'm particularly excited to hear what they do at our Billboard showcase Wednesday night at ACL Live. We might be dancing on the ceiling before Lionel Richie even hits the stage.

Famed singer-songwriter and musician Billy Strange passed away Wednesday (Feb. 22) in Nashville at the age of 81, the Tennessean reports (via our counterparts over at The Boot). His cause of death is unknown at this time.

A member of the Musicians Hall of Fame, Strange played with Willie Nelson, Bob Willis, Nat King Cole and Dean Martin, among others. In the 1960s, he was a member of the "Wrecking Crew," a group of Los Angeles-based session musicians who played on albums including the Beach Boys' 'Pet Sounds' and Nancy Sinatra's 'Boots.' On the latter project, Strange helped songwriter Lee Hazlewood with the musical arrangement for the album's now-classic hit, 'These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.' Details are emerging about Whitney Houston's upcoming funeral on Saturday, Feb. 18, in Newark, N.J. The invitation-only event will include guests like Aretha Franklin, Clive Davis and Rev. If there ever a doubt that this was Adele's year, the 2012 Grammys put any speculation to rest! The British songstress swept the awards winning a staggering six golden gramophones. During her numerous acceptance speeches, the singer made sure to thank her fans, radio station support and most importantly her mum, who sadly couldn't join Adele on her big night.

The other big winners of the night were the Foo Fighters -- who won four awards, including Best Rock Song and Rock Album. Shocking many in the Best New Artist category was Wisconsin-native, Bon Iver, who upset the likes of Nicki Minaj the Band Perry.

The night of celebration had a decidedly more somber tone this year as the music industry mourned the sudden death of Whitney Houston yesterday (Feb. 11). Jennifer Hudson's moving rendition of Houston's hit 'I Will Always Love You' barely left a dry eye in the house. Other musical icons such as 'Soul Train's Don Cornelius and Etta James were also remembered at the event.
