• Coldplay will launch their 'Viva La Vida' world tour on June 29 in Philadelphia. The North American portion of the jaunt is set to wrap on November 22 in Salt Lake City.
  • Elton John will simultaneously release Deluxe Editions of his eponymous 1970 breakthrough and its beloved 1971 follow-up, 'Tumbleweed Connection'. The packages are due June 3 and boast a combined total of 28 previously unreleased tracks.
  • Dave Matthews Band will perform a concert for 'Stand Up for a Cure,' which benefits Lung Cancer Research, at New York's Madison Square Garden on September 10. Fans must join DMB's Warehouse fan association or be invited to purchase tickets.
  • Madonna will launch a world tour on August 23 in Cardiff, Wales. Though the jaunt's full details won't be announced until later today, it is known that the tour will feature between 50-60 shows in total.
  • Coldplay have released another new song, titled 'Viva La Vida,' from their forthcoming album, 'Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends.' That effort hits shelves on June 12.
  • Robyn has postponed two dates -- May 13 in Portland and May 14 in Seattle -- in order to appear on ABC's 'The View' on May 15. The shows will be made up in August.
  • Amy Winehouse was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of drug possession. The embattled singer's spokesperson said the arrest is connected to a video that allegedly showed Winehouse taking drugs at a party in her London home.
  • Beck will release an as-yet-untitled album this summer. The 10-track effort was produced by Danger Mouse, and is rumored to feature Cat Power on one of the songs.
  • Madonna scored her seventh No. 1 album this week with her latest effort, 'Hard Candy,' selling 280,000 copies.
Anything Prince can do, Paul McCartney can do better. Well, except for wear tights. We'll leave that to the Purple One.

Nevertheless, McCartney will give away his latest album, 'Memory Almost Full', in editions of the UK newspaper, Mail on Sunday. Originally released on Starbucks' Hear Music label, the disc will be free to buyers of the May 18 edition of the paper.

In 2007, Prince gave away a copy of his most recent studio album, 'Planet Earth' through a deal with the newspaper. UB40 also gave fans a ten-song sampler of their latest studio album, 'Twentyfourseven,' as a supplement.

In related news, Beatles fans are abuzz over a rumor that Sir McCartney and Ringo Starr might reunite to perform onstage at Liverpool's upcoming Sound City music festival. Macca is set to take the stage for the event, which will celebrate the Beatles' hometown being named 2008's Capital of Culture.

The Liverpool City Council recently granted McCartney's production company $3.4 million to stage the four-day festival, which takes place between May 27-30 at city venues, including the Hard Day's Night Hotel.
  • Neil Diamond will perform a free MySpace Secret Show at New York City's the Bitter End today. Doors for the 18 and up, first come, first served show open at 7pm.
  • Gang of Four bassist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham have quit the band. Frontman Jon King and guitarist Andy Gill will continue writing and recording new music under the same moniker.
  • David Gilmour will release a live album, titled 'Live in Gdansk,' in September. The effort was recorded at Gilmour's last concert on his 2006 summer tour in Gdansk, Poland.
  • Bootsy Collins is launching a tour, dubbed 'A Tribute to James Brown,' with alumni from Brown's J.B.'s on the bill.
  • Mates of State will release a new album, titled Re-Arrange Us,' on May 20. The duo will kick off a tour in support of the new album on May 16 in New Haven, Connecticut.
  • My Bloody Valentine have added several dates to their reunion tour this summer, including a handful of North American shows.
  • Blondie will release an expanded 30th Anniversary Edition of their classic 'Parallel Lines' album on June 24. In addition, the band will kick off a summer tour in celebration of the milestone, beginning June 5 in Baltimore.
  • Pete Doherty was released from jail on Tuesday morning after serving only 29 days of a 14-week sentence. The Babyshambles frontman was behind bars for reportedly being late for several probation appointments.
  • Beck is rumoured be releasing a new album in a rushed way, much like the Raconteurs released their most recent album, 'Consolers of the Lonely.' The follow-up to 2006's 'The Information,' is reportedly due in 4-6 weeks.
  • Britney Spears is expected to attend her child custody hearing Tuesday in a downtown L.A. courthouse with her parents. Spears' ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who's had full custody of their two children --2-year-old Sean Preston and 1-year-old Jayden James, since January -- is also expected to attend.
  • Scarlett Johansson and fellow actor Ryan Reynolds are engaged, the actress-turned-singer's publicist confirmed on Monday. The two have been dating since Spring 2007. Reynolds was previously engaged to Alanis Morissette.
  • Las Vegas' Vegoose festival will not be held this year. Jonathan Mayers, president of Superfly Presents, the festival's co-producer, confirmed the news, saying the event may resurface in another form. Vegoose made its debut in 2005.
  • Aimee Mann has added several dates to her North American summer tour in support of her forthcoming album, '@#%&! Smilers.' The jaunt kicks off on June 2 in L.A., and is currently scheduled to wrap on September 3 in Nashville. More dates are expected to be announced.
  • The Offspring have made available the first single from their upcoming album available for free MP3 download. Fans can get the tune, titled 'Hammerhead,' at www.offspring.com.
  • Courtney Love checked into L.A.'s Cedars Sinai Hospital on last Friday, allegedly complaining of throat and chest pains. The rocker was later diagnosed with strep throat.
  • Tom Waits has revealed the details of his 13-date North American 'Glitter and Doom' tour, which is set to kick off on June 17 in Phoenix.
  • The Cure will release a new single each month leading up to the release of their new album, due in September. The first as-yet-untitled single will drop on May 13.
  • Juliana Hatfield will release her tenth solo album, 'How To Walk Away,' on August 19. The disc features guest appearances by Nada Surf's Matthew Caws, the Psychedelic Furs' Richard Butler, Fountains of Wayne's guitarist Jody Porter and Tracy Bonham.
  • Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger was fined $600 and sentenced to a one-year driving ban on Thursday as a result of his drunk driving arrest on June 22, 2006.
  • Mariah Carey allegedly married MTV personality Nick Cannon, just one day after rumors of the couple's engagement swirled. According to the New York Post, Carey and Cannon wed at Carey's recently purchased Bahamas home.
  • ZZ Top will celebrate the 25th anniversary of their landmark album, 'Eliminator', with the release of an expanded CD/DVD Collector's Edition on August 12. Bonus content includes alternate and live versions of the disc's classic singles, including a dance mix of 'Legs.'
  • Jazz legend and New Orleans resident Dr. John has spoken out against the governement, criticizing their interference with the city's sacred institutions. "The tradition of the second-line brass bands is right there in Treme, that neighborhood," he told Newsweek. "And now politicians want to charge people [for parade permits] to have a second line. They have to have a police escort -- all that crap. This is a spiritual thing, You don't put spiritual things in politicians' hands."
  • Tina Turner will launch her first U.S. tour in seven years this summer, beginning October 1 in Kansas City. Tickets go on sale May 12.
  • RZA has unveiled the tracklist and album art to 'Digi Snacks,' the new album by his alter ego Bobby Digital.
  • Tiesto will launch a club tour in support of his 'In Search of Sunrise' mix series, beginning May 23 in San Francisco. The jaunt is set to wrap on June 30 in Toronto.
