Steven Tyler Comes Clean on Drug Dependency

Steven Tyler now admits that he was fighting a dependency on pain and sleep medication when he checked himself into rehab last month, though the Aerosmith vocalist first said he sought the "safe environment" of rehab to recover from several foot surgeries and foot therapy.

"To have your feet done, to have your leg done, you have to be on narcotics," Tyler said in an interview Friday night to promote his band's participation in 'Guitar Hero 3: Aerosmith.' "You have to be on sleep aids at night. I don't know about Joe [Perry] but I was off and running and I didn't like the me that was me."

"This was a month ago, so I just put the brakes on and checked into detox and just pulled the plug on all of it," Tyler, now 60, explained. In May, the legendary rocker disclosed his aforementioned medical procedures were to correct longtime foot injuries resulting from his physical performances.

Steven Tyler Says Rehab Trip Due to Foot Injuries

In response to reports last week that he had checked himself into a Pasadena, California drug rehabilitation clinic, Steven Tyler has disclosed why he entered the facility. The 60-year-old Aerosmith singer says he entered Los Encinitas Hospital's treatment facility earlier this month after a series of surgeries and post-operative physical therapy to correct long-time foot injuries resulting from his athletic stage performance.

"The doctors told me the pain in my feet could be corrected but it would require a few surgeries over time," Tyler says. "The 'foot repair' pain was intense, greater than I'd anticipated. The months of rehabilitative care and the painful strain of physical therapy were traumatic. I really needed a safe environment to recuperate where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet."

Although Tyler made no reference to substance abuse allegations he ensures fans, "Make no mistake, Aerosmith has no plans to stop rocking. There's a new album to record, then another tour."

Aerosmith Frontman Enters Rehab

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler checked himself into a Pasadena, California drug rehabilitation clinic. The 60 year old Tyler was admitted into Las Encinitas Hospital's treatment facility, according to TMZ.

The hospital should be familiar to viewers of VH1's recent 'Celebrity Rehab' series. Las Encinitas is home to the practice of that reality show's host Dr. Drew Pinsky.

In his four decades out in front of Aerosmith, Tyler is no stranger to drug treatment. He once revealed that he has had four trips to rehab. Now, with his fifth trip, Tyler has broken a twenty year run of sobriety.

In 2006, Tyler revealed that he had contracted Hepatitis C, a dangerous liver disease known to plague intravenous drug users, but had cleared it from his body.

Scott Weiland Goes to Rehab

Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland has voluntarily entered a rehab facility, according to a statement released Friday from the band. Weiland has a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, including a notorious heroin addiction that nearly destroyed his career. He cleaned up his act about three years ago but was caught driving under the influence back in November.

Velvet Revolver has canceled a show in San Diego tonight, and may have to postpone their Australian tour, which is scheduled to start next week. No word yet on whether Weiland's rehab jaunt will also affect the much-hyped reunion of his former band, Stone Temple Pilots, rumored to take place this summer.

Amy Winehouse Vows to Get Her Ish Together

Amy Winehouse, who was recently nominated for an impressive six Grammy Awards, is looking to make some positive changes next year. "Amy has agreed she will sort her life out in the New Year," a friend told The Sun. "She wants to give the performance of her life [at the Grammys]."

To ensure that Winehouse sticks with her intention to get clean, her entourage is moving forward with plans to send the beehived, ballet-slippered singer to Israel, where she will undergo intensive rehabilitation for one week. However, that's not before holding one last blowout at her home in London, which friends fear will "probably be a messy affair."

The 24-year-old singer has had a monumentally bad year. From being tossed in jail for drug possession to losing her husband to lockup recently, as well as canceling her tour, she's been caught in a downward spiral that's been captured very publicly by swarming paparazzi. So, yeah, if there's anyone who needs a fresh start, it's her.

Celebrate the singer's New Year's resolution with amazing (and rather lucid) performances of 'Tears Dry on Their Own,' 'Back to Back' and more.

Pete Doherty Caught Shooting Up on Video

It seems Pete Doherty is back to his old tricks. Just hours after claiming to be clean at MTV's European Music Awards in Germany, the Babyshambles singer was caught on tape shooting heroin into his right arm.

The grainy cell phone video, posted by UK paper the Sun, shows Doherty on the floor prepping the illegal drug in a spoon and administering it to himself.
The Sun also reports that before the awards show, Doherty -- who is fresh out of rehab -- jokingly told a reporter that he was "missing" hard drugs. A spokesman for the musician said, "He's been a very foolish boy."

Sharon Osbourne Says Courtney Love Is a 'Virus'

Two of music's most outspoken women just keep on throwing punches at each other. Courtney Love vehemently denies Sharon Osbourne's claims that she introduced Osbourne's son, Jack, to OxyContin. "I never did that. I would never give drugs to a teenager. F--- you, Sharon -- as if I would ever give drugs to a teenager," Love said last week in London.

Today, Osbourne fired back, telling the New York Daily News, "I'm glad she doesn't like me. I only pity her. She's a virus. I don't want her anywhere near people I love. The cold, hard fact is she's a has-been."

In September, Osbourne told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "I will never have time for Courtney Love. She was the first person to give my son Jack the prescription drug OxyContin. There's not a shadow of doubt in my mind about that."
