Moby on His Bucket List, Why He's Playing Coachella and Being a 'Weather Nerd'

Sometimes you can forget that Moby is a musician first.

His prolific tweets and online journals are filled with his striking architecture photography and outspoken rants on social issues. His calendar is filled with gigs like "Presidential inauguration party" and political fundraisers (he's hosting one for Los Angeles mayoral candidate Eric Garcetti February 7, alongside Will Ferrell and Jimmy Kimmel). But the 47-year-old L.A. transplant is at heart still a producer of music.

He's currently working on the follow-up to 2011's Destroyed and DJing select festivals, including the inaugural Brrrrr! winter music fest in Toronto this Friday and a little party in California called Coachella. Moby spoke to Spinner about his DJ ethos, his life's to-do list and being a "weather nerd."

Kavinsky, ProtoVision (Blood Orange Remix) -- Song Premiere

Years in the making, French producer Kavinsky is finally preparing to release his debut LP, OutRun, which hits shelves Feb. 25.

Following the success of his zombie ode "Nightcall," which was produced by Guy-Manuel of Daft Punk and featured in the opening sequence of 2011 film Drive, OutRun is an '80's B-movie-inspired concept album, produced in collaboration with longtime friend and associate Sebastian.

As we await the LP's release, Spinner RPM has the premiere of a new track, "ProtoVision," which was remixed by Blood Orange, aka acclaimed songwriter/artist Dev Hynes (Solange, Sky Ferriera).

In Their Words: "It's pretty obvious that 'Sandblonde' has some watery ocean vibes to it and that's really where the influence came from, sort of culling from the idea of music made directly under the tides. But a little known fact about it is that I conceived the title of the track from a misinterpretation of lyrics from the Underworld song 'Bruce Lee.' Towards the end, Karl Hyde says 'tanglon' and in my head I heard 'sandblonde' at the time. I realized what an idiot I was well after the fact but I still liked the word, so I decided to use it for something of my own."

CrunkBear13, Diplo: Teacher Tweets Topless Photos at DJ, Gets Suspended

A 23-year-old math teacher at Overland High School in Aurora, Colo. may face criminal charges after participating in Diplo's "express yourself" movement.

Carly McKinney, aka CrunkBear13, tweeted a topless photo "expressing herself" in the preferred style of Diplo's fans -- upside down, legs spread, feet in the air, twerking.

Upon receiving a retweet by Diplo, the young teacher's account was brought the to attention of the school's administration, landing McKinney on paid leave.
