Deerhunter, 'Fountain Stairs' (Interface)
Deerhunter Frontman Bradford Cox said it best when he told us, "We're all equally essential to the mix." With his and guitarist Lockett Pundt's stoic vocals, Josh Fauver's deceptively simple bass lines and Moses Archuleta's paranoid drumming, the result is a spine-tingling concoction that meanders effortlessly from psych to shoegaze to art punk. Their fifth album, 'Halcyon Digest,' finds the Atlanta band at the top of their game, as evidenced by this unique performance. Don't miss the more than 17-minute performance of 'Helicopter' into 'He Would Have Laughed' (a song about their late friend, Memphis rocker Jay Reatard, who also once played our Interface stage.)
