2012 has already been a whirlwind for Sharon Van Etten. Her recent record 'Tramp,' produced by the National's guitarist Aaron Dessner, shows the edgier side of the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter. Written while she was living an itinerant tramp-like lifestyle -- not the slutty kind, naturally -- the songs reflect Van Etten's maturation and increasing comfort with herself, her voice and her personality.
During the week of the album's release, Van Etten and her band stopped by Spinner's New York studios for a special acoustic session and interview on The Interface.
"I want to just look a little nicer. I'm like, 'Maybe I'll tuck my shirt in for this show,' or 'Maybe I'll look to see if I have dandruff today.' You know, like, maybe I'll just check myself before I get onstage."
