Greetings From Tim Buckley
Smuggler Films
Director Dan Algrant's melancholy rumination on strained father and son relations, which touches on the lives of both Buckleys as son Jeff Buckley prepares to perform at late father Tim Buckley's tribute concert in 1991 is well written, directed and acted. But the real treat for music fans is the concert itself, which was lovingly recreated for the film. The fact that Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley can hold his own amongst the talented and seasoned group of musicians who were assembled for the performance is a real testament to his singing ability. And his ability to embody the enigmatic Jeff Buckley is an even bigger testament to his acting talents.
