Back to 10 Great Psychedelic Neil Young Moments
The Cover of 'Zuma'
Reprise
The cover of the 1975 album Zuma is rendered in simple black 'n' white by artist James Mazzeo, who was Young's road manager at the time. It features a giant billed bird riding the back of a naked woman with giant breasts as they soar over over the desert and a nearby pyramid. In the distance a ship appears about to land on the coast at sunset.
Mazzeo was apparently paid $2,000 for the cover and after it came out Rolling Stone gave it an honorable mention for "most depraved album art."
