This song from the 1974 album On the Beach mythologizes cult murderer Charles Manson to stunning effect with images of "ten million dune buggies comin' down the mountains" and a sinister foreshadowing that the song's protagonist was going to go after the famous stars living in Laurel Canyon, California.
It's not the happiest buzz, but it's certainly a trip. Apparently Neil and his fellow musicians would consume a concoction called Honey Slides -- a combination of honey and marijuana -- throughout the recording process.
