In December 2006, the powers-that-be named an alley in the heart of Oklahoma City's entertainment district "Flaming Lips Alley." Coyne said, "I never considered that I would deserve so much as a lamppost... I almost prefer that we're one of these great little secrets, that you stumble upon us looking for something maybe more obvious," in a local television interview. "I think that it could be the greatest alley in the universe."
