During the 1920s, Montreal was a hub for visitors looking for jazz and boozy hijinks. Today, Montreal International Jazz Festival is world-renown, hosting prestigious artists and musicians from all over the world. Over a period of two weeks, it showcases over 3,000 musicians and 1,000 shows -- two-third of which are free. The celebratory festival sprawls over Quartier des spectacles in downtown Montréal, in bustling clubs, cafes and the concrete streets.
Who: Billy Bragg (above), Dirty Projectors, Chromeo, Rufus Wainwright.
