Nirvana 'Unplugged in New York'
DGC
Nirvana's set for MTV's acoustic show MTV Unplugged, taped on Nov. 18, 1993, easily goes down in music history as one of the band's best and most haunting live performances. The live album was released almost a year later, months after Kurt Cobain's suicide in April 1994. Not muddied by layers of distortion, Kurt's vocals sound eerily fragile and vulnerable -- especially on the chilling closer of Lead Belly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night," on which his voice breaks during the final chorus.
