This was a model that couldn't last. Most former spouses can't stand being in the same room with each other, but for the better part of a decade, Jack and Meg White constituted one of the world's most important rock bands. Initially hailed as garage revivalists, they grew into much more, increasingly referencing blues, gospel, country and other antiquated sounds, casting themselves as musical junk collectors. Their legacy can best be summed up by something Jack sings on 2007's 'Rag and Bone': "It's just things you don't want/I can use them, Meg can use them/We can do something with them."
