1988: The Purple One followed up Sign "O" the Times" with Lovesexy, "Alphabet St." Three years later, he would change his name to that unpronounceable "love" symbol.
Pictured in 2011: Back to calling himself Prince, he remains as an impressive performer as ever, regularly playing marathon shows of hits and his newer material. His last album was 2010's 20Ten.
