11. Atlas Sound, 'Parallax'
4AD
Perhaps more than his main outfit, Deerhunter, this solo project illustrates Bradford Cox's growth and trajectory as a songwriter. 'Parallax' is his most cohesive album to date, showing his growing confidence as a singer falling into step with his generous gifts as a songwriter. The tasteful textures that abound in album centerpiece 'Mona Lisa' and reverberate through the record's deeper cuts make this one of the year's most rewarding listens. -- T.S.
