Having just broken away from weirdoes the Sugarcubes, Bjork went solo with a smart dancepop sound that would eventually get artier and stranger as the years went on. Two albums in, Swedish singer Lykke Li's reputation for powerful and sad dance songs is well-established. There are not-so-subtle hints (getting Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård to be in one of your videos) that she's got the "art" in her, too. So don't be surprised if she willfully dabbles in Bjorkian strangeness in the future.
DNA Evidence: When 'Mad Men' character Betty Draper got accused of being “profoundly sad” she responded, “No. It’s just my people are Nordic.” Bjork’s 'Venus as a Boy' and Lykke Li’s 'Sadness Is a Blessing' videos are good excuses to invoke that same line.
