Back to Alt-Rock Then and Now
PJ Harvey + EMA

The undisputed queen of the alternative nation was, and kinda still remains, PJ Harvey. She’s won awards, is critically adored and has done whatever she wants whether it’s bristling grunge, noise-punk, cooing ballads or concept albums about war. Erika M. Anderson, known on stage as EMA, might be Harvey’s successor. Her skronky indie rock has already made her the darling of the blog set, now it’s just a matter of time to see if she ends up being as awesome as everyone on the Internet thinks she is.
DNA Evidence: Early PJ Harvey, like 'Dress,' only hinted at her dynamic future. Watching EMA’s 'Marked' you can’t help but feel the same.
