Neil Young has, like Leonard Cohen, been a consistently current artist over the past five decades. Where Young excels is his influence in almost every modern guitar genre, be they emulating his early folk roots, his proto-grunge rock or even his electronic experimentation. Pearl Jam may have been the first to really come out and pay tribute to their inspiration, but everyone else does it, too, even without the hat-tip.
