Your band’s name is Pkew Pkew Pkew (Gunshots). What’s that all about?

Mike Warne: "I thought of the name a long time ago. I wanted to use it for years but I was never in a band obnoxious enough to get away with it before now. That's the point of the name, to be annoying or interesting or stupid or awesome. We've found that people usually love it or hate it, which I think is much better than having a name people are indifferent to. Most bands take themselves really, really seriously and write about their feelings and love and dumb stuff like that. We don't want to fall into that category -- we just want to write dude music for dudes."

How does it go when you meet someone for the first time and have to explain your band name to them?

"It depends on a lot of things. It's easier to tell someone the name if they have heard the songs or had just seen us play. Some people don't get that it's supposed to be kind of a joke, or they think I'm a serial killer, or they just think it's stupid and don't pay attention. It's kind of an interesting way to narrow down potential fans -- anyone who won't give us a chance ‘cause of our name probably won't like hearing 'Ass---- Pandemic' or 'Friends Don't Let Friends Move in With Girlfriends.' I find that our name helps us meet people like us, people that get it. And we're always real happy to play for new fans."
