Back to Concert Censorship: A Brief History
The Rolling Stones

Proving that you're never too old to freak out the man, the Rolling Stones were subject to censorship during the 2006 Super Bowl half-time show. Lyrics in both "Start Me Up" and "Rough Justice" were deemed too sexual to air, and were muted from the broadcast. Mick and crew's frustrations at their lack of girly action remained intact in "Satisfaction," though.
Almost 40 years earlier, their lyrics faced similar scrutiny before a performance of "Let's Spend the Night Together" on the Ed Sullivan show. Producers asks the band to change the "racy" titular song lyric to the more euphemistic and Kidz Bop-esque "Let's Spend Some Time Together." The band complied, but Mick rolled his eyes as he sang the amended line, because he's a rebel like that.
