The Jackson clan has a long history of dysfunction, and the root of it most certainly comes from their upbringing by Joe Jackson, who managed their musical careers. Michael Jackson revealed he was continuously physically and mentally abused by his dad, who once picked up his son by the leg and punched him over and over again. Joe would also sit during his sons' rehearsals holding a belt, which he used to beat the boys if they messed up any part of the routine. Joseph admitted to all of this in the press, and was ultimately forgiven by Michael, who certainly had a few parenting issues of his own (remember the balcony incident?). Immediately after Michael's death, Joe was criticized repeatedly for promoting his record label and hip-hop projects in interviews, proving that his sensitive side still has yet to arrive.
