The late Monkees singer embarked on an acting career at 11 years old but that wasn't what led him to quit school three years later -- it was his training to be a professional jockey. Jones returned to acting soon after, landing the role of the Artful Dodger in a production of "Oliver!" The cast appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show" on the same night as the Beatles' historic performance. Two years later, he'd front the Monkees.
