The new songs could be up-tempo and "dancey" given the material played at their secret Montreal gig in early December. As reported at the time, no recordings were leaked online as the band played with very strict non-recording conditions enforced. However the Twitter account ArcadeFireTube relayed some information, describing the songs as "fun, dance-y and groovy." Additional tweets described the material as being heavy on "percussion/rhythm section."
