After Win Butler heard Regine Chassagne singing jazz tunes a Montreal art exhibit, he was inspired to write songs with her, though a subsequent romantic relationship -- leading to marriage -- might suggest he also had other activities in mind. Their indie band, formed in 2003, includes another family member -- Win's brother Will.
