The lead singer of '80s girl group superstars the Bangles is a good Jewish girl from a pretty devout family. Her grandfather, Ralph Simon, was a prominent rabbi in Chicago and a political activist. Among other things, he won the Israel Man of the Year award in 1976 and marched with Martin Luther King. Hoff's uncle Matthew Simon is also a rabbi. "There are a lot of strong Jewish roots in my family," she told the Jewish Chronicle in 2010.
