'Vicious'

'Transformer,' in many ways, is the best album Lou Reed ever made. His first post-Velvets album composed mainly of post-Velvets material, 'Transformer' found Reed stripping out the ramshackle ethos of his former band in favor of more meticulous arrangements. These came courtesy of David Bowie and Mick Ronson, the lead guitarist in the Spiders From Mars. 'Transformer' opens with 'Vicious' a song that comes barreling out of the gate equal parts glam and punk: 'Vicious, you hit me with a flower."
