'Walk on the Wild Side'

Perhaps Reed's most enduring song. We've all heard it in some form or another, whether it was sampled by Mark E Mark or by A Tribe Called Quest. But really there is no beating Lou Reed's original because it is a prime example of what Lou Reed does best: A blend of explicit lyrical content and beautiful music that all comes together under the banner of simplicity. And does it get any simpler than this: "Plucked her eyebrows on the way/shaved her legs and then he was a she/ she says, 'hey babe, take a walk on the wild side.'"
