The guitar genius behind much of Maroon 5's signature hits was a devout Mormon for much of his life. That is, until touring with a rock band got in the way. "I'm definitely not active," Valentine said of his faith in 2007. "This is about as polar-opposite a lifestyle as I was supposed to have, in my adult life. On the road I've gone through times of drinking too much and stuff, I went pretty far outside the bubble." Valentine still lives in the Mormon paradise of Utah.
