Back to Mormon Musicians
Arthur "Killer" Kane of the New York Dolls
Ebet Roberts, Redferns
The New York Dolls bassist converted to Mormonism in 1989 following years of depression, alcoholism and poverty. He was working in the church's Los Angeles library when the legendary protopunk band reunited in 2004, and filmmaker and fellow Latter-Day Saint Greg Whiteley was on hand to record the ordeal. Sadly, Kane died of undiagnosed leukemia three weeks after the band's reunion concerts.
