Back to Musicians Who Died on Stage
Devon Clifford
Paperbag Records
Devon Clifford was the drummer for the, in hindsight, eerily-named Vancouver dance-rock band You Say Party! We Say Die! In April 2010, the group was playing a triumphant hometown show after a lengthy North American tour when Clifford collapsed onstage, suffering a massive brain hemorrhage from a congenital defect. The singer begged the audience to call 911 and Clifford was rushed into emergency neurosurgery but after a day on life support, he passed away at age 30. Clifford later had a waterfall, described as being "in a small, steep gully lush with ferns and moss, a small cave and what Devon referred to as a Buddha rock," named Devon Falls in his honour. The band, which recently came out of retirement, changed their named to You Say Party and now feature a drum machine.
