In the late '70s, only Bob Marley was more popular among English reggae fans than Dread, known for his sexual innuendos and a brief career as a pro wrestler. In 1998, while performing at the Penny Theatre in Canterbury, England, Dread told the audience, "Let's hear it for the band!" Then the 53-year-old singer keeled over and fell off the stage, the victim of a fatal heart attack.
