Rapper Lil B is not gay, but he didn't let that little detail stop him from naming his 2011 album I'm Gay. In some genres, that wouldn't be a big deal, but in hip-hop, it was a bit of a shock. "I got major love for the gay and lesbian community, and I just want to push less separation and that's why I'm doing it," he explained to MTV and revealed that a lot of the response was negative: "People been hitting me up like, 'I'm gonna bash your head in,' 'you f----t,' 'I'm gonna kill you.'" Following the backlash, he amended the album's title, calling it I'm Gay (I'm Happy). The album went to No. 20 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, in spite of the controversy and Lil B's decision to release it for free online.
