Always one to court controversy, Madonna really took it to another level with this video, which blended themes of religion, sexuality and racism. The furor over the clip -- which included Madonna singing in front of burning crosses -- even led the Pope to speak out against it. Madonna lost a huge endorsement deal with Pepsi because of it, but her career certainly didn't take a hit: The music video is now considered one of the most iconic of all time.
